10 minutes later…

Winger and I pulled up to Liz’s house. Nothing looks out of the ordinary. Our plan is to act like we don’t think anything is wrong. I will murder anyone who hurts her.

I don’t see any cars or bikes around. How the fuck did they get here? I walk right up to Liz’s door and knock.

“Liz, its Buzz, are you in there?” I keep banging. I know I can get in but I don’t want to freak her out or scare anyone off.

“I am going to go around back.” Winger says.

I move around towards the perimeter of her house. If there was one thing the military has taught me is that you always stay on your toes. I also trust my gut and something isn’t right.

“Buzz! Get over here man.” I rush over to where Winger is.

“What is it?” I look in the window and see blood on the floor. I can hear the shower running as well.

“Shit man. The shower is on.” My blood is boiling right now. Someone hurt her. I run back to the front door and kick that shit in. I don’t give a fuck who is in here. Liz is hurt and needs help. Winger and I walk into the house watching each other’s back. We clear the house as silently as we can. If we are hurt we can’t help. We make our way finally to Liz’s bedroom.

There is blood on the wood floor. It is leading to the bathroom. I can smell the iron in the air. Dear god, please let her be okay. I start to feel weak, this isn’t a feeling I have felt before. For the first time in a long time, I am scared of what is on the other side of that door. I push open the door and don’t see anything yet. The shower is on but the steam is covering the glass.

I motion to Winger that someone is in the shower. He gets his gun ready. I grab the door and pull it open. I am not prepared for what I see.

“Liz!” I immediately rush to her. She is sitting on the floor of the shower with water flowing down on her. There is so much blood flowing down the drain. She has bruises on her face and cuts on her arms and legs. I feel for a pulse. She has one but she is passed out. It looks like they tortured her.

“Winger, call Prez’s wife. I need Charlotte here, now.” Winger leaves the bathroom and calls Pres.

I shut the water off. I grab Liz and a towel to wrap around her arms and legs. There is so much blood. “Liz, honey please wake up.” Shit, what is taking so long? I can’t believe this happened.

I pick her up and carry her to the bedroom. She is so wet and cold. I grab her face and tap it a little. “Wake up, Liz.” She stirs. “That’s it honey, wake up. Show me those gorgeous emerald eyes.
